I don’t have much to share this week.

I’ve been home, sick with the worst head cold of my life. It’s just lots of congestion, coughing from my chest, constant running nose and exhaustion.

I went to choir practice on Monday, the 17th of February. It was the first time that all of the choirs sang together and with the orchestra, ahead of last night’s concert at the Cathedral.

It was thrilling to sing the music together and to hear the soloists. Unlike the previous concert, I was really looking forward to this one.

But, I started to notice a bit of a sore throat that night. I went home and rested and Tuesday, I felt better and went to school.

By Wednesday, I was feeling really congested and tired. So, I stayed home on Thursday and Friday. I didn’t get better. I started missing choir rehearsals.

I stayed home all last week. On Friday, I went to the doctor. She prescribed a 3-day antibiotic and said if I’m not better to go to the emergency room.

Also in Friday, I had the faucet in the kitchen replaced. However, once installed, the hot water heater no longer worked. I’ve been living without a shower or shaving since Friday morning.

I understand the concert last night was a great success. Friends who arrived thirty minutes early couldn’t get a seat. And the reviews were raves. I was sorry to miss it.

So today (Sunday), still no improvement, I went to the emergency room. Blood tests. An x-ray. Diagnosis: viral infection (aka the common cold)! The doctor gave me more drugs and sent me home.

Vicente was kind enough to pick me up from the hospital and take me to his house, where he made a savory chicken curry lunch. And I finally shaved and showered after three days. That shower felt like an after-three-day-camping shower!

The doctor thinks I should feel better within a few days.

I’ll take off from school again in Monday. And hopefully, my landlord will be able to get someone to fix my hot water heater on Monday.

Awww, get better soon! So sorry you missed the concert with the choir. Did anyone record it? Certainly not the same but it might be better than nothing.
