Soccer and Sweets

It’s starting to happen! You know me. I’m no sports fan. But uh oh! I’m starting to follow the World Cup! Spain has been doing great and I’m starting to watch soccer. What’s happening to me?!

Monday night, Spain beat Portugal and then Friday night, they beat Belgium. Now, they’re in the quarter-finals and will play against France on Tuesday. I’ve been watching all of it.

Note the official Spain jersey! A gift from my neighbor Carlos

On Wednesday, Marco arrived, a Couchsurfer from Mexico. He stayed until Saturday morning. Of course, I loved showing him the city.

Today (Sunday), I went to the beach… twice. My cleaning lady came this morning and so I left to get out of her way. So I went to the beach for a couple hours, then came home, cleaned up, and met my friends Arlington, Juan David, Carlos and Mike, to drive to Cullera. This is a lovely town about 30 minutes from Valencia.

Before the beach, we made a pit stop at an amazing bakery!

La Beata Inés Bakery – this is the main building
Across the street is a dining room to enjoy your just-purchased treats
Then, there’s s large covered picnic area if you prefer.
In the main building is a smorgasbord of baked delights

I had cheese cake. It was the lightest, fluffiest cheese cake I’d ever had.

We enjoyed the afternoon on the beach and then drove home.

Now, it’s my bedtime. Have a great week! I hope it’s a smorgasbord of delights.
